Fairy SwordsFairy SwordsFairy Swords are found growing at higher elevations (5000" +) in association with limestone and a relatively damp environment.

A stand of Fairy Sword ferns create a mosaic alongside Slavin Gulch riparian area in the Dragoon mountains of Southeastern Arizona.  This image was chosen as the Arizona Highways Magazine "Photo of the Day" for April 29, 2015.

One of the most common and beautiful of the desert ferns (yes, there are ferns in the desert...!), Fairy swords are found in areas with granitic tors or alongside boulders. They sometimes grow in rows or dense stands.

I like your site, and the warm toned approach to your southwest images. Brings out the best in them.
